Ultrasonography has penetrated into each and every discipline of obstetrics and gynecology as it has been the case in many medical specialties. Ultrasonography used to serve only for fetal examination and growth follow-up, and evaluation of uterus and adnexas at the early stage of technological advancements, it currently plays a frequent role in advanced procedures including but not limited to ovarian reserve measurement, pelvic floor examination, morphological evaluation of uterus, diagnosis of deeply infiltrating endometriosis, prenatal diagnosis of placenta accreta spectrum, fetal ecocardiography, fetal neurosonography and intrapartum ultrasonography. Founded back in 1997, the Turkish Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OJUD) has intended to keep tune with latest developments in ultrasonography for gynecology. Since its inception, the society has held post-graduate training courses on ultrasonography, and provided guidance in gynecology as a specialty. In addition, the society has organized the Congress on Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology on a biennial basis since 1998.
Just like it was the case in previous editions, the society has drawn up a scientific agenda for the 11th edition of the congress to involve the latest developments in obstetric and gynecological ultrasonography in an effort to help colleagues have access to scientific advances. The agenda is intended to address common and controversial clinical challenges in obstetrics and gynecology, and offer individual solutions and management suggestions for gynecologists and sub- specialists (of perinatology, reproductive endocrinology, urogynecology, gynecological oncology). Additionally, some sessions are going to be held in an effort to have discussions over responsibilities of specialists and sub-specialists in terms of ultrasound examinations to mitigate medico-legal problems.
As it has always been the case, the event is going to comprise pre-congress training courses, and scheduled sessions for discussions over latest developments. The presentations are going to be rather delivered through videos with a combination of latest scientific procedures for screening and diagnosis. The presentations are going to be followed by a Q&A session where there is enough time for discussions, which are the highlights of the session. In fact, the discussion session is an invaluable platform for you to directly ask your burning questions to specialists.
As it has always been, this year obstetric and gynecological cases of young academics, which are of importance and specific qualities, are going to be delivered and discussed as a part of video presentations during main sessions as the event is intended to review and promote their studies in a scientific setting. In addition, participants are going to address some major issues in First Trimester Screening, Basic Obstetric Ultrasonography, Fetal Ecocardiography, Fetal Neurosonography, Intrapartum Ultrasonography and Ultrasonography for Endometriosis, and demonstration-based workshops on ultrasonography are going to be held based on cases. You need to register for workshops as they are going to be provided for small-sized groups. That is why we recommend you to follow the official website of the congress.
We are motivated by the interest in the event that grows year by year, and that boosts our morale to work harder to identify challenges and confer more benefits. Therefore, we would like to extend our thanks beforehand to distinguished colleagues for their participation.
On the last few days of sunny summer before you get back to your busy agenda in wintertime, we expect to see you join us in the beautiful town of Bodrum, Turkey to gain insight into novelties in obstetric and gynecological ultrasonography on a welcoming, serene and scientific platform.
On Behalf of the Board of OJUD
